Crown Financial Ministries – A survey of Christian giving within New Mexico demonstrated the serious debt problem within the Church and the sub-standard giving experience within the state. In response to this observation the Tijeras Foundation sponsored an initiative to set up a state office for Crown Financial Ministries, to hire a Director for this effort, and to integrate this new position with other financial ministries within the state (e.g. the New Mexico Christian Foundation). Office and secretarial support for the new position were provided in the foundation office complex as a financial benefit but, more importantly, as a means to provide on-going mentoring in business practices, fund raising principles, and relationship management. As a consequence of this initiative there is a thriving Crown Financial ministry within NM today that is a major component of the NM Generous Giving Initiative.
