Oral Bible Forum -- In early 2003 there was the recognition of the need to increase the awareness of Christian foundations relative to the growing movement to reach 4 billion of the world’s poor, illiterate people with the Bible in an oral format recorded in their native language. At the same time the need to provide a neutral environment for leaders of major missions organizations involved with “orality” was recognized. In response to this the Tijeras Foundation hosted the Oral Bible Forum in July 2003 and brought together leaders from both the foundation and missions agency communities. Out of this initiative the International Orality Network took form, major funding was released for orality programs in multiple missions agencies, and a precedent was set for orality as a major international initiative...
